On your initial driving assessment your trainer will simply ask you to drive in a way you thank you will need to drive to be successful on a driving test. This is the best way to start your assessment as you will know exactly what you will need to improve on to pass your driving test.

Then you have time then to work on correcting any issues between your driving lesson tuition.

Each lesson your trainer will work on any fault and explain the remedial action needed to put the issue right to pass your part two exam.

Yow will receive a PDF work sheet on the faults to work on between each of your lessons, included on the PDF will be the brief topic of your next lesson.  This will give you the time to practice and research any literature

PDI training/pink licence

PDI training/pink licence

A trainee licence is a pink badge you display in your training vehicle so you can legally teach for payment.

Before you can apply for a trainee licence and start teaching you need to submit a form to the DVSA with 40 hours in car training signed off by your trainer.

Once you have received your pink PDI badge you will need to do an extra 20 hours (these are signed off before you can take your part 3 standards test.

These hours need to be taken after your 40 hours and in the first 3 months of you getting your pink licence.

Part three training (without a pink licence)

Part three training (without a pink licence)

Part three training is necessary if it’s only to gain the correct knowledge of the format of the test and what is expected from you on your exam.

You need to know what topic to do on the test and that will mean what student or individual you are you going to take with you on your test. As if you’re not a trainee driving instructor you will not have a student to take with you.

You have to produce a well-structured lesson that has to have a start middle and bottom.

What does this mean?

Start

1. Recap on last lesson

Middle

1. Risk management

2. Teaching strategy

3. Level of instruction

4. Aim and objective

5. Short lesson brief

End

1. Debrief

2. Feed back at the end of your lesson.

3. Lesson and improvements.

4. Plan for the next lesson.

If you do not go down the trainee (pink badge) package there is no minimum or maximum amount of lesson, your trainer will give you the structure to help pass your Standards Check.
